Browsing in moving

Yesterday we moved to our final destination!! We are now living in town and besides my house being chaotic I love it.  I don’t even know where to start unpacking so I tend to walk around staring at everything instead of doing anything about the mess. We had several guys come to help us load and unload the U-Haul and several of their wives came and helped me clean the bathroom and the kitchen cabinets which was all awesome. Every little bit helps! Thanks everyone! We ended up not going to bed until 2:00am because Adam had to return the U-Haul and run a few errands and it took me a long time to find our sheets…etc. So needless to say we are exhausted! Also, forgot to mention Ella woke us up at 5:00am with a really sad cry so we let her get in bed with us. Then later she woke us up again as she cried in her sleep. I took her to the doctor this morning and she has an ear infection in her left ear…I would be crying too if I were her!!

Off to unpack…..oh joy!!

This has been an exhausting few days. We arrived in Georgia around 4:30 am Monday morning, slept for 2 hours, and then the movers arrived. The movers were absolutely amazing and quick. I will never move across the country without them ever again. They had everything packed and in the truck by about 3:00 and then we started cleaning, then went to dinner with some friends, then cleaned until 1:00am. We are exhausted and hardly functioning. We keep having a hard timing deciding what to eat for meals because we’re so tired nothing even sounds good…just sleep.

We’ve run into a few issues since we’ve been here. First, our dishwasher won’t work. It worked before we left so it’s a little strange that all of a sudden the day we move out it quits working. Did I forget to mention it’s only 3 years old?? This is why I don’t like cheap stuff. Second, when the movers were draining our washer water got into one of our smoke alarms and the alarm wouldn’t stop going off yesterday, this could have caused a fire! We fixed the fire alarm issue but we’re still here at our house trying to get this stupid dishwasher to work and it’s almost 4:00 pm. We wanted to have let GA by noon. So needless to say we’re both a little irritated right now.

Now for some highlights of our trip. I’m sitting outside and it’s absolutely gorgeous, it’s been about 80 degrees both days. Yesterday I spent some time outside and actually got a sunburn..whoops! Dinner with our friends was really fun. I think I’ll really miss my friends here. I also saw my old “boss” yesterday which was fun. We chatted and got caught up for a while, I miss it there and I miss having a part-time job.

Adam just informed me that we’re leaving our dishwasher in the hands of someone else and we’re heading back to Ohio. So this is all I can write for now. More to come tomorrow….

Wow! What a year!! Today I am celebrating my 26th birthday. It seems like now that I’m older my birthday’s come more frequently…how does that happen? Boy does time fly! My day will look like the following, first church, then we’ll come home pack the rest of our stuff real quick and head to Dayton to drop Ella off to my parents, then Adam and I will continue the long trip down to Georgia to pack up and clean our house for the buyer. We will return back to Ohio on Tuesday night. I’ve never left Ella overnight so the next few days will be sad, yet very productive as well. So it is with mixed emotions that we close up the chapter of our life in Georgia as we say goodbye to our friends, close our bank account, clean our empty house and swim in our neighborhood pool one last time.

I never in a million years thought I would enjoy moving to Marion. I never thought I would make friends. I never thought I would like living in a small town again. I never thought I would like the idea of living where Adam knows everyone and everything. I never thought I would find a house I would like. And the list could go on…

But it seems that God is helping me each and every day accept that I am here and to be happy with where I am. So far, I feel like I’m connecting with a few ladies my age, we’ve found a house we really like, I’m enjoying driving shorter distances to everything, it doesn’t even bug me that we constantly run into people we know and it turns out Adam doesn’t know as many people as I thought…Marion has changed.

We were house hunting the other day, and we were totally amazed by something we saw. There is a trend here of hanging metal stars on the outside of your house. I don’t really get it, but it seems like I’m the only one…because we saw more stars in a two-block radius than in our entire four years in Atlanta. The following pictures were all taken within three or four blocks of each other, believe it or not. My favorite is the last shot…I don’t know if you can tell, but the two stars above the garage have American flags painted on them.

Late last night we arrived in our new town, Marion, Ohio. Today we spent the day going to Walmart to get some things we needed and driving around looking for houses because OUR HOUSE IS NOW UNDER CONTRACT…yes you heard me folks…we have found a buyer…praise the lord! Hopefully everything works out and the guy really buys it.

I’ll have to admit, I think it didn’t hit me until that we are actually moving. I felt really sad for a majority of the day. I have so many mixed feelings.

We finished out our evening eating pizza with some friends and going to their son’s 3rd birthday party.

We have some of Adam’s friends here from Marion helping us move. They are the most amazing packers. Why can’t Adam and I be that fast? Oh, and while I’m thinking about it, our house may be going under contract tomorrow. I’ll keep you posted.

I’m sitting here in front of the TV, wishing I was in bed but I’m watching Adam and his friends as they play x-box. Right now the buckeyes are winning 3-0 with 4:47 left in the 2nd half.

I’ll have to admit, it’s actually fun watching the 3 of them interact. I’m getting a taste of the way they were together back in middle and high school. I think they are all pretty excited about getting to live close to each other again. Originally, when I began writing this blog I was planning on writing a bunch of funny things they were saying but I’m just getting so sleepy I can’t think straight.

Off to bed…night.

This afternoon, channel 2 news was in my neighborhood interviewing some people so I did some investigating to find out what was going on. Check out this article. I’m pretty sure this won’t help our house sell…

Last Friday Adam and I made the decision to move to Marion, OH. I don’t think it’s all completely sunk in yet. I’m having mixed emotions about the whole thing. I’m happy to be moving on to a new place, I really think we need it right now with all that’s happened in the past year. The job Adam has accepted is “next generation pastor”, which I think he’ll be great at doing and I’m excited to be part of it. Marion seems like a great place to raise a family because of the small town feel. But on the other hand, I love Georgia, I love the weather, the people, the area, this is where Adam and I started our “married life” together, Ella was born here and we’ve made some great friends.

As I sit here and type I’m listening to Adam on the phone with a moving company so I guess this is really happening. Our house still hasn’t sold so we’re going to have to put our stuff in storage and stay with friends for a few months. The people we are going to be staying with live in the country, actually they are farmers so I’m going to be forced to “pretend like I’m a country girl” :). Actually, I really enjoy the country but I just prefer city life.

Ella just went down for a nap which means it’s time for Adam and I to go finish packing the garage…oh the joys of moving…
